Waves were big enough to be working on the point at Eilands Bay. After an hours wait chilling in the sun, someone flicked the switch and the wind turned on to 4.2m weather, and the waves picked up too. Breaking onto kelp beds, it was funny bottom turning over seaweed hitting the fin. No major upsets though. Well worth the trip, would love to see it on a huge dayPosted by Picasa

Another shot of the start Posted by Picasa
Taught Derek how to do loops on the lake. He wasn't taking any chances though, he's wearing a seat harness, a waist harness, a Pryde impact jacket, a weight jacket (without weight) and a helmet, to be sure to be sure! Posted by Picasa
It's Big Bay, must be another back loop. Posted by Picasa

Did a bit of slalom racing today at the Vlei, to support the guys from Bay Sports (the NP/JP shop) and join in the fun. I actually only went up to the lake to collect my harness, which I had left in Pauls van, but after seeing the first race I rigged up my 4.7 Combat and grabbed a JP SuperX96 Pro. The wind was 25-30 knots and pretty choppy. The local guys were on RS5 5.8m and dedicated slalom, and were very suprised to see me lead the whole first race, until at the very last minute Cedric (French Pro) squeezed past on a 5.5m and Fanatic Slalom Proto. Posted by Picasa

When you do a major down wind race with a fleet of 120, you need a big bus to bring everyone back upwind again Posted by Picasa

The new JP 2007 Slalom board, which I used for the Langebaan Downwind Dash. Very controllable (well as controllable as can be on a 6.7 in 25-30 knots) Posted by Picasa
